Optional Google Analytics

With your permission, Google Analytics measures page visits, engagement, returning visitors, broad location and device information. Analytics cookies distinguish browsers; they are not a count of identified people. We use these reports to understand traffic and improve the website.

The Google tag loads only after you accept analytics. We keep advertising personalisation and Google Signals off. We send page paths without their query strings, and strip the path and query from the referrer we provide. Enhanced measurement, including automatic outbound-link and form tracking, is switched off.

Your browser choice

We store your accept or reject choice in this browser for up to 180 days. If you accept, Analytics may use cookies named _ga and _ga_…; their configured lifetime is up to 60 days and may be renewed on a visit. You can change your choice below or through the globe’s Privacy settings link.

Rejecting after accepting stops further measurement and removes the Analytics cookies this site can access. It does not erase data already sent to Google. Clearing this site’s browser storage removes your saved choice.

Optional Google sign-in

You can read every public headline without an account. If you choose to sign in with Google, Firebase Authentication processes your Google identifier, name, email address, profile information and account activity such as creation and sign-in times to create and secure your OrbitalView account. OrbitalView never receives your Google password. Signing in does not subscribe you to marketing or a paid plan.

Firebase keeps the sign-in session in browser storage so you can remain signed in. This is used for the account service you request, independently of optional Analytics. We do not send your account email or identifier to Analytics. You can sign out or permanently delete your OrbitalView account from the Account page. Deletion removes your OrbitalView authentication profile; it does not delete your Google account or data Google retains for its own security and legal purposes. Your profile remains until you delete the account.

Home Screen app

The web app stores its icons and a generic offline page on your device. It does not cache news or account pages for offline reading. You can remove this cache by clearing OrbitalView’s website data in your browser. Removing the Home Screen icon alone may leave browser data in place.

Running the site

The hosting provider processes technical request information to deliver and secure the website. News feeds are fetched by the server. Opening an original article takes you to the publisher’s website, where that publisher’s privacy practices apply.

OrbitalView does not require registration, payment details or a precise location to read the news. We do not currently display advertising.
